The private pool area and tropical garden is where you find the namesake Royal Poinciana tree complete with a chair hammock beckoning from one enormous branch. Another compelling feature of the cottage is its location just a half block from the Ernest Hemingway house and from Duval Street, the main artery for all that fun. Two steps down puts you at the edge of the dramatic L-shaped lagoon pool, which extends across the rear of the cottage and up the left side swimming lane, ending at a hidden conversation area off the front bedroom. Linger near the pool's jets, swim laps, or just paddle around to refresh. A fourth option is ascending a spiral staircase to the sundeck overlooking the pool, where you'll find chaise lounges and plenty of tanning space. Poinciana House is demarcated from Olivia Street by an off-street parking area and a white picket fence. Inside the fenced perimeter is a front garden that leads to the front porch. Get out your camera because one garden feature is an amazing banyan tree with multiple external roots, extensive branching, and large leaves. The cottage front door opens into a bedroom suite with a queen bed, sitting area, bath, and generous closet space for folded and hanging travel attire. But best of all, one wall is composed of glass French doors that lead to a private outside conversation area perfect for enjoying a cup of morning coffee in your PJs. 5/5 - The house was exactly as described. Location was perfect for Duval activities. Thankful it had a small parking space!! The pool was great for the mid afternoon heat. Historic Hideaways was great to deal with, and communication from their team was very detailed/easy to follow! We will definitely stay here again.

4/5 - We enjoyed poinciana house very much. We wished we could’ve stayed longer. We have 2 well behaved dogs but it’s difficult to find a dog friendly home to rent. Our younger dog had a ball swimming all day. We loved that he was tired out so we could go to dinner right up the street without any concerns.

The location is amazing which we knew when booking. Quiet end of Ocean Dr. but completely walkable. Quiet building. Great views. If the owners would spend just a little money updating, the condo would present so much better and they’d probably be able to charge more. The condo itself is very spacious and the beds were comfy. Light & airy. Huge bathrooms. TVs were hard to turn on but we figured...

This is a beautiful spacious condo with a perfect location. Ocean views and by great restaurants but just far enough away from the crazy part of south beach. We did have a few issues while staying there.. the oven wasn’t working and the floors were filthy. I did let the property management company know when we checked in.
